Hapkido
Hapkido is an Korean martial art that originated from Japan. Hapkido bears a striking similarity to Aikido and it comes as no surprise to learn that the founder of Hapkido is rumored to have studied DaitoRyu Aikijujitsu - the forrunner of modern Aikido. In general Hapkido techniques draw on not only the Aikijujitsu but also other Korean arts to add striking and kicking (usually from Tae Kwon Do) and study the korean weapons like fan and cane.
Aikido techniques are often considered more refined and less brutal than those of Hapkido, owing perhaps to the philosophical premise of aikido as a way to peacefully subdue an opponent.
