Great for Health and Fitness
Aikido training is for the body and mind. Moderate exercise a few times a week is important for maintaining and improving health. Aikido training combines the mental discipline of learning an ancient art (you'll never get bored) together with physical activity at a pace your body is comfortable with. It combines anerobic weight bearing activity (vital for bone density development) together with aerobic activity ( for carcdo vascular health)during freestyle practice. The intensity of practice grows with your aikido skill base and physical development through training. If you can get up and down off the ground your ready to start aikido.

Great for Females
Walk without fear! Aikido requires no advantage in strength or speed, so it can be practiced by women and men of all ages and ability. Our club has women from 17 to 70, several of whom wear black belts. Girls rule!

Self Defence for Everyone
If you are looking for first class self defence and personal protection without the punches and pushups, try aikido. You don’t need to be fit to start and the training is easy. You can always go at your own pace and sit out at any time. We have lots of students and young people as well as a few oldies (but they’re cool).

Experienced Instructors
Some of the nicest and most patient people in the world, our aikido instructors are all experienced practitioners and fully accredited and insured with Aikido Yuishinkai. All instructors have first aid training and hold ‘blue cards’ for child teaching and related training activities.

Aikido

A modern martial art developed from the traditional Samurai class of martial arts in Japan. Aikido has no blocks or punches but instead redirects the attackers energy to throw or immobilise them. Suitable for men, women and children. With a good mix of aerobic and weight bearing training its a good way to maintain inner and outer health and pick up some handy skills as well.
